Sea Turtle’s Need Your Help!

Another reason to reduce or stop using plastic.

I just came across a post on Facebook the day after visiting this wonderful place called, “Gumbo Limbo Nature Center” in Boca Raton, Florida. So sad.

Not such a happy #TurtleTuesday this week. It’s washback season at Gumbo Limbo and weak, tiny turtles are washing up along the coastline needing our help. Unfortunately, not every washback survives.

100% of our washbacks that didn’t make it had plastic in their intestinal tracts. This turtle, which would fit in the palm of your hand, had eaten 104 pieces of plastic.

This is a sad reminder that we all need to do our part to keep our oceans plastic free.

This is just more motivation for someone like myself to try even harder to reduce my plastic use. Whenever I come across a share-worthy news event like this, I will be sharing it with you.

WLRN also did a video with them a few months ago.

If you haven’t been to Gumbo Limbo, I strongly recommend you stop by one day! It is a great place to take the entire family!
